Daniel was born and raised in Guatemala, one of the most biodiverse countries of the world. Both of his parents have worked for all their life in conservation of nature in Guatemala, so that is probably one of the reasons why Daniel decided to be a conservationist and scientist. Daniel studied Biology at Universidad del Valle in Guatemala, always having a big interest for reptiles and amphibians, botany and conservation issues. With experience working in Guatemala, México, Madagascar and Perú.
Biology and photography have worked perfectly for Daniel and have led him to be recognized in his country and internationally. Daniel has been awarded as a category winner at the Wildlife Photographer of The Year (Natural History Museum of London), finalist at the Big Picture Natural Word Photography (California Academy of Sciences), honorable mention at the International Photography Awards and finalist in the Nature InFocus Awards. Represented by Nature Picture Library from Bristol, UK. He has also been part of conservation projects like the Darwin200 as a Darwin Leader in Punta del Este Uruguay, a journey of two years recreating the trips of Charles Darwin. He was selected as a fellowship for the 2nd Audiovisual Laboratory of the SantiagoWild Fest from Chile in 2024, organized by LaderaSur and National Geographic. Right now Daniel is studying a MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at London College of Communication of University of Arts of London.
